Renè Herbst

Renè Herbst

He was born in Paris where after completing his studies in 1908 he began to collaborate with some architecture ateliers first in Paris then in London and Frankfurt.

His debut at the "Salon D'automne" is in 1921 where he presents a "Rest Corner" at the musèe de Crillon.

Later, in addition to exhibiting his innovative metal tube furniture at the Saloons, he realizes numerous architectural projects: cinemas, shop fittings, restaurants, offices and exhibition galleries.

Since 1919 Herbst has been interpreting the path of modern design, dealing with metal furniture, window dressing and interior lighting.

As for the design of the metal furniture, its full maturity can be recognized around 1920 with models in nickel-plated metal tube with a rigorous and functional design.
