Mizutani Takehiko (1907-1969)
Mizutani & egrave; famous for being one of the few Japanese students at the Bauhaus. His name appears on the Bauhaus student list for the first time in the summer of 1927. Some sculptures made for the workshop headed by Joseph Albers have been published. Although this table was never produced, photographs of the original wooden model have been published in certain photographic collections of Bauhaus furniture. Not much is known about Mizuzani's period of stay at the Bauhaus. A photograph taken by Lotte Burkhardt, highlights Mizutani, the student more & ugrave; small at the Bauhaus, next to the student more & ugrave; high. He returned & ograve; in Japan before the war and taught; in the school where he had studied, the Tokyo College of Fine Arts (which is now the faculty of Fine Arts, at the Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music). And & rsquo; remained as Deputy Professor of Architecture until 1944, after which he became a part-time lecturer. He died in 1969.
