Charles Edoward Jeanneret took a pseudonim which made him famous in 1920, the yeas in which toghether with the painter AmŽde Ozenfant he founded the "Revue de l'Esprit Nouveau".

When only 18's old he built his first house. He was very sure of himself with advanced ideas regarding architecture and city planing.

Characteristic of Le Corbusier's buildings are the "piles" which cover a sens of lightness while also functioning as a frame work for structural elements.

They allow for an open for plan, ribbon windows for uniform illuminations, hanging gardens and articulated facades.

A samples of this period are the "Jaoul a Neuilly-Sur-Seine" and the "Sarabhai house" in India.
