Joseph Hoffmann (1870-1956)
Hoffman having finished his studies, he visited Italy for quite some time, infact, his thesis was awarded the "Premio Roma".
The Italian country house cubic, whitewashed with windows cut out off walls in an irreular fashion without any bought inspired his first architectural works.
Like many of his contemporaries, Hoffman also wanted to create the complete work of art: "I belive that a house should in one piece and that its estrior should disclose the interior".
His greates commitment : to search constatly for better material and to strive for an ever more perfect performance.
His guidelines : Simplicity, onesty and accuracy.
Is design clearly evidence his preference for rectilinear cubic forms with geometric ornamention.
Among others he has built homes for Color Moser, Adolf Stoclet, the bancher for the writer Beer-Hoffman in Vienna and for the painter Ferdinand Nooler in Ginevra.
